Privacy
Zero cloud. Zero telemetry. Zero subscriptions.
Privacy is not a policy — it's an architectural property of Live Translate. The app cannot send your data anywhere because no networking code for that exists.
Architectural guarantees
- Zero cloud API calls. No OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, AssemblyAI, DeepL, Google Translate, or any other network translation service.
- Zero telemetry. No analytics, no crash reporters, no anonymous statistics.
- Zero user data leaves the device. Audio, text, screenshots, generated images, browsing history — all stay on your PC.
- Zero subscription, zero usage limits, zero API keys.
- Zero server dependency. No Live Translate server exists. Steam Workshop is optional and only used when you click "Share".
- The browser tab's user data is isolated from your system browser — cookies and auth tokens are not shared with the OS-wide profile.
What "offline" means in practice
After installation you can disconnect Wi-Fi or unplug Ethernet, and every feature continues to work: live audio translation, video subtitles, manga batch processing, anime generation, web translation (the page must have already loaded once), screenshot inpainting, gallery browsing of local works, hotkeys, overlays, settings.
Only Steam Workshop browsing and DLC installs require Steam to be online — both are explicit user actions, never automatic.
Data ownership
Translations, generated images, video subtitles, chat histories, project folders — every artifact lives under your local data folder. Uninstalling the app preserves your data; reinstalling picks up where you left off. You can copy the data folder to back up everything.
Safety filter
For image generation, a banned-word list is active in production builds. "Safe" rating is auto-injected for SDXL anime if the user omits a rating. Identical behavior in DEBUG and Release — never bypassed. Workshop upload runs a prohibited-term check before publishing.
A note about this website
The Live Translate app contains zero analytics — that's an architectural guarantee. This website uses a privacy-friendly self-hosted analytics tool for anonymous page-view counts only. No cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party trackers, no Google Analytics. The data lives on a server we control and is used solely to understand which pages people read. Browsing this website does not interact with the desktop app in any way.
