How it works
- Pick your audio source — system loopback (whatever your PC is playing) or microphone.
- Live Translate detects each spoken phrase and transcribes it in real time, fully on-device.
- The on-device AI translator turns the cleaned phrase into your target language, taking conversation history and any of 102 pre-built game / movie / show context presets into account.
- The translation appears in a transparent overlay window — drag it anywhere, click-through optional, font / size / color / opacity all yours.
Smart speech engine
Live Translate ships with multiple speech recognition engines and picks the right one for your language and your hardware automatically. Light CPU-only mode keeps battery life on a laptop. GPU mode delivers maximum accuracy on noisy or quiet voices. You never have to think about which engine to use — it just works.
Precise mode (two-pass)
Optional toggle. Each detected phrase goes through the AI twice: first to reconstruct the most likely intended sentence from noisy or mumbled speech, then to translate the cleaned version. Roughly 2× latency, dramatically better output on game voice chat and whispered dialogue.
Cache hits in cyan
Translations served from local cache appear in cyan in the overlay so you can tell what came from memory versus a fresh run. Frequent phrases skip the AI entirely after the first encounter — instant responses, minimal GPU load.
102 game and movie presets
Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy, Persona 5, Counter-Strike, Valorant, Civilization VII, Stardew Valley, Steins;Gate, and dozens more. Each preset tells the translator how to handle character names, slang, and tone. You can also add your own custom glossary — for niche terms or character names the AI is forced to honor.
